Enjoy two gems of the Classical period
Zelman Symphony welcomes back Elyane Laussade to perform Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto. Composed during a turbulent period marked by the Napoleonic Wars, the concerto reflects Beethoven’s resilience and growing confidence, with grandiose themes that mirror the era’s intense political climate and his own struggles with deafness.
Continuing our theme of works by women composers, we present the only non-choral orchestral work by Fanny Hensel, older sister to Felix Mendelssohn, the delightful Overture in C.
The concert will conclude with Mozart’s majestic final symphony, Symphony no. 41 Jupiter.
