Elgar's Cello Concerto

Saturday 29 November 2025, 7.30pm

James Tatoulis Auditorium - MLC - Kew

Enjoy the blockbuster end to our 2025 season

Arguably the most famous of all works for the cello, Elgar’s Cello Concerto was composed following the First World War. Richard Narroway joins Zelman Symphony for this deeply introspective and emotional work, its somber, melancholic tone reflecting the period's sense of loss.

Our season concludes with Brahms’ Symphony no. 3. Emotionally charged, it weaves melancholy, introspection, and lyrical beauty throughout its movements. The symphony’s rich orchestration reflects deep emotional complexity, while the third movement’s serene, wistful theme evokes a sense of quiet longing and inner reflection.
