Henry Choo – tenor

Regarded as one of Australia's most versatile lyric tenors, Henry is a graduate of ANAM and of the young artist programs of Opera Australia and Opera Qld, and has subsequently appeared regularly for Opera Australia, WA Opera, the State Opera Of South Australia and Melbourne Opera and at the Edinburgh Festival and Macau International Music Festival, singing such roles as the Italian Singer in Der Rosenkavalier, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore, Nadir in The Pearlfishers, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Almaviva in The Barber Of Seville and the title role in Roberto Devereux.

Henry is a multiple Greenroom Award nominee, most recently for his performance of Leicester in Melbourne Opera’s production of Maria Stuarda.

He has appeared as soloist in such works as Messiah, St Matthew and St John Passion, Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, with all the Australian symphony orchestras and with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the World Peace Orchestra, NZSO, Christchurch Symphony and Auckland Philharmonia, for the Sydney Philharmonia Choir and is a frequent soloist for the Melbourne Bach Choir. During 2021 he appeared in A Child Of Our Time for the Adelaide Festival.

Henry latest concert project is his two-man show, Henry & Adam’s Excellent Operatic Adventures, with his long-time musical colleague Adam Miller.

His past performances with ZMSO include being soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No.8 as part of its 80th Anniversary celebrations and joining the orchestra as violinist in the Verdi Requiem.
