South Australian-born mezzo-soprano Belinda Paterson has sung principal roles for Melbourne Opera, Opera Australia's Schools Company and the Australian Contemporary Opera Company.
As a concert soloist, she has appeared with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Philharmonia, Geelong Symphony Orchestra, and the Melbourne Bach Choir. She has also toured China, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic as a soloist with the Melbourne Bach Choir.
Based in Melbourne since 2000, Belinda is a long-standing member of the Opera Australia extra chorus, most recently appearing in Boito’s Mefistofele. Past highlights with Opera Australia include King Roger, Batavia, Sweeney Todd and touring to Tokyo with Don Pasquale. She also performs regularly with the Victorian Opera chorus (most recently in Elektra), and is a past member of the State Opera South Australia’s chorus.
Belinda holds a Master of Music Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts and a PhD in Philosophy (Philosophy of Music) from the University of Melbourne.
